Paris Hilton Hilariously Calls Out Mom Kathy Hilton for Showing Up “Unannounced” to See Baby Phoenix
View Date:2025-01-09 11:45:02
Everything is hunky dory when it comes to the Kathy Hilton's life as a grandma.
In fact, Paris Hilton recently revealed that her mom is "obsessed" with her new grandchild—to the point where she'll spontaneously show up for a visit with the DJ and Carter Reum's newborn son Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum.
"Just showing up all the time unannounced," Paris said of her mom on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon March 13. "She's in there and I'm like, 'Mom when did you get here?' She's like, 'Oh I've been here for hours.'"
As for how Phoenix is adjusting?
"He is such an angel," Paris gushed. "He is the best. He's the cutest, sweetest. I'm just so obsessed with him. My heart feels like it's going to explode. It's the best."
The Simple Life alum even confessed that Phoenix already has an ear for music. "His favorite lullaby is my song ‘Stars Are Blind,'" she said. "He has good taste in music."
In January, Paris and Carter—who tied the knot in November 2021—announced the news of their son's arrival on Instagram with a picture of Paris's hand wrapped around her baby boy's.
She captioned the adorable introduction, "You are already loved beyond words."
And although Kathy is enjoying her family's newest addition, she didn't find out that Phoenix had been born until after it had already happened.
So when Paris revealed the news, she knew she had to come prepared, telling Rolling Stone in an interview published March 14, "I was like, if I give her Chanel first, maybe she won't be so upset that I didn't tell her about this."
And the 41-year-old recounted the emotional introduction.
"I was holding the baby on my shoulder with a blanket over him, and then I just sat down," Paris explained. "She's like, 'What is that?' And I was like, 'A baby … meet your grandson.' She's like, 'Is this yours?' And she starts crying. She's like, 'Let me hold him. He's the most beautiful baby I've ever seen in my life. Oh, he's so beautiful.' She was just in tears."
As for how Paris and Carter settled on their son's moniker?
"Over a decade ago I thought of this amazing name," Paris explained on her iHeartRadio podcast This is Paris last month. "It's such a beautiful name, it's so unique."
But after taking an out of the box approach to their son's first name, the couple took a more traditional route for his middle name by paying tribute to the reality star's late grandfather Barron Hilton.
"He was always my mentor and I looked up to my grandfather so much and we were so close and I miss him everyday," she noted. "So I really wanted to honor him by having his name in my first son's name."
